Leadership and management roles
​Member, Scientific Steering Committee, International Earth System Governance Research Alliance (2018 – present)

Providing strategic leadership to the international Earth System Governance research alliance.

Co-Chair, Scientific Steering Committee (2022 - 2023)
In this capacity, I coordinated SSC deliberations and decisions on core issues facing the network in this period. including representing the scientific steering committee at the 2023 ESG Radboud Conference; and co-leading identification of next conferences locations and a new institutional host for the ESG International Project Office.
Coordinating Lead Author, New Directions Initiative (2016 – 2018)
Co-led the development of the alliance’s new Science and Implementation Plan
Co-Coordinator, Anticipatory Governance Working Group (2015 – 2020)
Established and co-led a working group within the ESG research alliance to build a virtual research community around anticipatory governance.

Providing strategic advice and undertakes collaborative research within ESG.

This board advises the joint NIAS-Lorentz collaboration that encourages unusual research ideas, in academia and beyond, to address complex societal challenges.

Advisor Global Challenges Foundation (2024- present)
Advisor to the GCF secretariat, and GCF Board upon request, on matters related to global catastrophic risk and related global governance.

Invited Expert, Input to the United Nations Secretary General's Scientific Advisory Board (December 2024)
Invited to be part of an expert roundtable on solar radiation modification to provide input on this controversial topic to the United Nations Secretary General's Scientific Advisory Board.

Member, WUR Advisory Committee on Collaboration with Fossil Industry (2023)
To determine university policy on collaboration with the fossil industry. Following multiple committee meetings and stakeholder consultations, the final advise was submitted to WUR Executive Board in Dec 2023.

Cambridge Elements in Earth System Governance was launched in 2018 to provide authoritative analyses of the challenges of governing earth system transformations. It addresses governance processes at all levels of decision-making from local to global and is interdisciplinary in scope.
